INN-03: MRI Master Class: Based on the Cambridge Prostate MRI and Biopsy Course
Room: Theta/Sigma/Delta
Chair: Christof Kastner, United Kingdom
|
|
Overview
The quality and advantages of prostate MRI have redefined diagnostic practice in recent years. A recent publication of the Hansen BJUI papers, PROMIS and PRECISION, strongly advocates the use of multi-parametric MRI (mpMRI) for lesion detection and biopsy avoidance in the diagnostic pathway.
This established international workshop has traditionally addressed the approach to learning this new diagnostic tool on workstations in a multidisciplinary fashion involving radiologists, urologists, and pathologists.
The original Cambridge course has been delivered annually since 2013 with unanimous applause as a combined MRI & biopsy course. Components have been used successfully for numerous 1-day courses and seminars at the ECR2017, 2018 and 2019, the FT2015, 2018 and 2019, the SIU 2017 and 2018, and each year since 2013 in Cambridge as the original 2-day course.

MV-01: Master Videos 01—Anterior Urethroplasty
Room: Ballroom II -III
Co-Chairs: Margit Fisch, Germany / Sanjay Kulkarni, India
|
|
Anterior urethroplasty is an art of precision surgery performed in a frequently hostile and unfriendly surgical field. The challenges of this craft arise when immaculate exposure and dissection is required in the midst of various vessels and vital structures, with some coursing unpredictably. Ultimately, our objectives encompass the need to improve the understanding of this surgery.
At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Recognize and remedy the common pitfalls of anterior urethroplasty for application in their practice.
We will reveal our methods of urethroplasty including:
- The vital importance of adequate incisional length for optimal exposure of anatomy. This will tie into the dynamic nature of progressive adjustment of our retraction with each step.
- Respect for tissue with correct atraumatic instruments.
- Recognition of fine details and subtle visual cues to reveal the exact planes of dissection during anterior urethroplasty.
- Harvesting the best quality graft for augmentation of the urethra, including the correctness of quilting and suturing.
The session will be interactive through a combination of thought-provoking questions and Socratic teaching methods delivered by renowned faculty. The audience will be taken through the surgeries in a step-by-step and comprehensive manner, leaving no stone unturned.
In conclusion, our audience will leave the session enlightened and confident with a thorough understanding of complex local anatomy, technical correctness and what is necessary to achieve the best possible results during anterior urethroplasty surgery.
